Karen McCombe
Senior Dental Hygienist | RDH NZDF
Department

Karen started her career in dentistry in 1986 as a dental assistant in Christchurch. After which, she joined the New Zealand Army Dental Corp (NZADC) in 1990.

In 1991, she embarked on a 3-year programme by the NZADC to become a dental hygienist.
Upon completion in 1994, Karen continued working in the NZADC for 4 years, specialising in periodontal and oral surgery care, both in camp and in military field situations.

After completing her dental management course in 1997, Karen left the Army and took up a role in Dannevirke as practice manager, where she introduced a hygienist role at the dental clinic.

With a young family in tow, Karen did part time hygiene work while helping a start-up dental supply company in the North Island.
Karen and her family returned to Christchurch in 2002 where she took up a position as a hygienist at a specialist periodontal dental practice culminating in a senior position a couple of years later. There, she concentrates on hygiene work and implant post operative care.

Karen will add her depth of experience to complement a highly motivated team in Periohygiene, a new state-of-the-art dental practice whose focus is championing patient comfort and care to achieve aesthetically-pleasing results.

She enjoys running, walking, golfing and spending quality time with her family and her beautiful 6-month-old granddaughter. Traveling is another of her many interests.
